COLONEL SANDERS, 1890-1980

This is a love story between a man and his chicken. In 1890, Harland David Sanders was born into poverty  in Indiana. The oldest of three children.  When he was five his father died and Harland ‘mum had to work at a tomato-caning factory to support them, leaving young Harland cooking for the family. Life didn’t work out until he was 40 and open service station in Kentucky  where he began serving customers home-cooked meals out of his living quarters. His Fried Chicken is proof more popular than the petrol, and nine years later he had a successful restaurant, a secret recipe [hint; it’ done in a pressure flyer] and even “Kentucky Colonel” – an honour granted by the governor for “outstanding to the state”. Unfortunately in 1952 the construction of a new highway forced him to shut his doors. Not defeated, he hit the road with his social service cheques and 11 secret herbs and spices. Harland tried to sell the recipe but, as the myth goes, 1009 restaurants rejected it before he sold a drumstick. In the end it him 10 more years- at age 75- for the world to take Kentucky Fried Chicken abreast.

เก้าปีต่อมา ร้านขายไก่ทอดของ ผู้พันแซนเดอร์ ก็ดังมาก คนเขียนเค้าบอกใบ้ สูตรลับ secret recipe  [hint; it’ done in a pressure flyer] (hint ตัวนี้ แปลว่าบอกใบ้ อยากให้ตื่นเต้นหรือ ทำให้มันยากขึ้น คนอื่นทำไม่ได้ว่า ต้องทอดในเตาทอดที่มีแรงอัดสูง มันมีหรือไอ้เตาที่ว่าเนี๊ยะ เข้าไปในครัว KFC ก็เห็นเตาทอดธรรมดาๆ แสบนะเน็ยะ คนเขียนคนนี้ )

       เรื่องราวของผู้พัน KFC คนนี้มีคนเอามาเป็นเรื่องตลกเป็นร้อยๆเรื่อง โดยเฉพาะ Adam Sandler ในหนังเรือ่ง The water boy  ที่โดนสกรัมบ้างเหยียบบ้าง ก็เรียกเสียงฮาได้สุดๆ
