Just deserts
An Explorer becomes lost in the desert one day.
Slogging across the burning sand with no water left in his canteen, he’s overcome with relief when he sees a solitary tent up ahead.
“Water!” cries the explorer, stumbling through the entrance and pleading with the Arabic tribesman inside. “l...must... have.. .water!”
“I am very sorry,” says the Arab politely. “I do not have any water, but perhaps I might interest you in a tie instead?”
The tribesman sweeps his hand towards a well-stocked tie-rack, draped with dozens upon dozens of beautiful silk ties.
“You ridiculous man!” the explorer splutters “I’m about to die of thirst here and all yo have to offer is ties? You must befucking insane!”
With this, he stumbles back out of the tent and into the baking heat.
After trekking in the boiling-hot sun for another hour, the explorer is on the brink
Of Collapse.
Suddenly, he sees another tent just a few metres away.
Through the open door, the explorer can hear the sounds of merrymaking and glasses clinking.
“Need...water...dying!” he gasps to the suit-clad Arab at the door.
“Ah yes, sir, we certainly have plenty of water inside,” nods the doorman. “However, I could not possibly let you in without a tie.”

Just deserts เดเสิรต แปลว่าทะเลทราย เป็นแสลง ก็แปลว่า ปล่อยให้แห้งตาย ผัวหนีไปมีเมียใหม่ ก็ใช้คํานี้ คือปล่อยให้เมียแห้งตาย คํานี้ อย่าใช้สับสนกับคําว่า dessert ดีเสิรตที่แปลว่าของหวาน สังเกตุที่ตัวเอสว่ามีตัวเดียวหรือสองตัว เรื่องนี้คนแต่งเอามาตั้งชื่อแบบนี้ เพื่อให้คิดได้สองแง่ ต้องอ่านจนจบแล้วจึงเข้าใจ
