พรานล่าเป็ด

 

An old, balding duck hunter from an English county walks into a jewellery store on a
Friday with a beautiful younger woman.
He tells the jeweller he’s looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.
The jeweller looks
through his stock and brings out a $5000 ring.
The man says, “No, I’d like to see something a little more special.”
The jeweller goes to his reserved stock and
brings another ring over
“Here’s a stunning ring at only $40,000,” the jeweller says. The lady’s eyes sparkle
and her whole body
trembles with  excitement.

Seeing this, the old man says, “We’ll take it.”
The jewellerasks how payment would be madeand the man says, “By cheque. I’ll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds, and I’ll pick the ring up Monday afternoon.”
On Monday morning, the jeweller angrily phones the old man and says, “There’s no money in that account!”
“I know,” says the old i man. “But let me tell you about my amazing weekend!”

from an English county จากชนบทในประเทศอังกฤษ ( คนเล่าเรื่องนี้ มีเจตนาให้รู้ว่า อาชีพล่านกเป็ดนํ้าไม่ใช่คนรํ้่ารวยอะไร )

 a jewellery store ร้านจิวเวอร์รี่แห่งหนึ่ง
on a Friday ในวันศุกร์
with a beautiful younger woman. พร้อมกับสาวสวยอ่อนวัยกว่าเขา
He tells the jeweller  เขาบอกกับคนขาย
 he’s looking for ว่าเขาต้องการ
 a special ring  แหวนแจ๋วๆสักวง 
for his girlfriend. เพื่อให้แฟนสาวของเขา
The jeweller looks through his stock คนขายก็เลือกไปเลือกมา
and brings out a $5000 ring. และแล้วก็หยิบแหวนวงหนึ่งออกมาราคา ห้าพันเหรียญ
The man says, ไอ้เฒ่านั่นบอกว่า
“No, ไม่เอาหรอก
I’d like to see อยากจะได้
something a little more special.” อะไร ที่มันพิเศษซักหน่อย ( อยากได้ของแพงว่างั้นเถอะ)
The jeweller goes to คนขายจิวเวอร์รี่ ก็ไปเปิด
his reserved stock and ของที่เก็บไว้เป็นพิเศษสําหรับลูกค้า
brings another ring over งัดเอาแหวนออกมาอีกวงนึง
“Here’s นี่ไง
a stunning ring แหวนที่เห็นแล้ว ต้องวาบหวิว ในความสุดหรูของมัน
at only $40,000,” ราคาแค่สีหมื่นเหรียญเท่านั้น
 the jeweller says. คนขายบอก
The lady’s eyes sparkle สาวน้อยที่มาด้วย ตาเป็นประกาย
and her whole body trembles  พร้อมกับตัวสั่นไปทั้งร่าง
 with  excitement. ด้วยความตื่นเต้น

Seeing this, เห็นแบบนี้
the old man says, ไอ้เฒ่าก็บอกว่า
 “We’ll take it.” เราเอาวงนี้แหละ
The jeweller คนขาย
asks how payment would be made ก็ถามว่า จะจ่ายเงินแบบใหน
 and the man says, ไอ้เฒ่าก็บอกอีกว่า
“By cheque. จ่ายเป็นเช๊ค
I’ll write it now ผมจะเซ็นต์ให้คุณเดียวนี้เลย
 and you can call the bank แล้วคุณก็โทรหาธนาคาร
Monday วันจันทร์
to verify the funds, เพื่อตรวจสอบว่ามีเงินจริงหรือไม่
and I’ll pick the ring up ผมจะมารับแหวน
 Monday afternoon.” ตอนบ่ายวันจันทร์
On Monday morning, เช้าวันจันทร์
the jeweller angrily phones คนขายจิวเวอร์รี่ เมาขาด โทรมาหา
 the old man and says, ไอ้เฒ่า แล้วก็บอกว่า
“There’s no money in that account!” ในบัญชีมันไม่มีเงิ๊น
“I know,”  ผมรู้ๆ
 says the old man. ไอ้เฒ่าพูดตอบมา
“But แต่ว่า
let me tell you ขออณุญาตให้ผมเล่าเรื่อง
about my amazing weekend!” วันหยุดสุดสัปดาห์ของผมที่ลืมไม่ลงให้คุณฟัง
