เจ้านายที่แสนดี

            ถ้าเราสังเกตุ หนังสือพิมพ์ สมัยนี้จะมี รายงานข่าวภาษาอังกฤษ ทุกฉบับ แต่ละคนจะพยายามเขียนใช้ศัพท์ แบบที่รู้กันในคนหมู่น้อยเพื่อ อวดความรู้แข่งกัน พวกนี้คือคนไทยที่ออกไปเรียนต่างประเทศฝึกเขียนแบบฝรั่งมา ศัพท์หลายอย่าง ในชีวิตประจำวัน ฝรั่งจะไม่มีใครใช้ จะใช้แบบง่ายๆ ที่คนทั่วไปเข้าใจ นี่คือสาเหตุที่คนไทยกลัวภาษาอังกฤษมาก เพราะมีคนแบบนี้มาก เรื่องนี้ คือการใช้ภาษาเบาๆ จำรูปแบบ เอาไปใช้สนทนาในชีวิตประจำวันได้สบายๆ

He’s the boss
Bazza goes to see his boss in the front office one afternoon.
He stands at the door and says, “Boss, can I have a word with you?
His boss looks up from his desk and says, “Sure, I’ve got a sec. What’s up?”
“Well,” begins Bazza “we’re cleaning the house tomorrow, and my wife
needs me to help with the attic and the garage, moving and hauling stuff.”
“We’re short-handed,” the boss replies. “I can’t give you the day off.”
“Thanks,” grins a relieved Bazza, “I knew I could count on you!”

Bazza บั๊สซ่า

goes to see ไปพบ

 his boss เจ้านายของเขา

in the front office  ในห้องทำงานของผู้บริหาร

( ย่อมาจาก front office executive)

 one afternoon. ในตอนบ่ายวันหนึ่ง
He stands เขายืน

 at the door

ที่หน้าประตู

 and says,แล้วก็บอกว่า

 “Boss, เจ้านายครับ

can I have a word with you?  ผมขอคุยด้วยได้มั๊ยครับ
His boss  เจ้านายเค้า

 looks up เงยหน้าขึ้นมามอง

from his desk จากโต๊ะทำงานของเขา

and says,แล้วก็บอกว่า

 “Sure, อ๋อได้ซิ

 I’ve got a sec.      ฉันมีเวลานิดหน่อยนะ

( I’ve got a sec  มาจาก I’ve got a second )

What’s up?” มีอะไรหรือ

( What’s up? = what is it ? )

“Well,” คือว่า

begins Bazza บั๊สซ่าเริ่มอรัมภบท

 “we’re cleaning the house เราจะทำความสอาดบ้าน

 tomorrow, พรุ่งนี้

and my wife และเมียผมก็

needs me ต้องการผม

to help ช่วย

with the attic เกี่ยวกับห้องเพดาน

and the garage, และก็โรงรถ

 moving ย้ายของจัดของ

and hauling stuff.” และก็ยกของหนักๆ
“We’re short-handed,” เราขาดคนงานตอนนี้

the boss replies. เจ้านายตอบ

“I can’t give you ฉันให้แกไม่ได้หรอก

the day off.” วันหยุดนั่นนะ
“Thanks,” ขอบคุณครับ

grins a relieved Bazza, บั๊สซ่า ยิ้มออกมาอย่างโล่งใจ

“I knew ผมรู้แล้วว่า

I could count on you!” เจ้านายต้องเป็นที่พึ่งให้ผมได้

( count on you หมายถึงนับรวมมาเป็นพวก)
