You dirty rats
A Canbera man walks into a second hand  store and notices a lifelike bronze statue of a rat.
It has no price tag, but is so striking he decides he must have it.
He takes the statue to the owner and asks, “How much for the bronze rat?”
“It’s $12 for the rat and an extra $100 for the story,” says the owner.
The intrigued tourist gives the man $12 and says, “I’ll just take the rat, you can keep the story.”
As he walks down the street carrying his bronze rat, he notices a few real rats have crawled out of the alleys and sewers and begun following him down the street.

The man starts walking faster, but Within a couple of blocks, the number of rodents behind him has grown to hundreds.
He starts to jog toward Lake Burley Griffin, looking round to see the
rats now number in the thousands
and are racing after him.
Scared, he runs to the edge of
the lake and throws the bronze rat
as far out into the water as he can.
Amazingly, the horde of rats jump into the lake after it and are all drowned.
The shaken man walks back to the shop where the bemused owner greets him with, “Aha! You’ve come back for the story?”
“Nah, mate,” says the man. “I came back to see if you have a bronze politician.”

a second hand store ร้านขายของเก่า หรือร้านขายของมือสองแห่งหนึ่ง

 and notices แล้วก็สังเกตุเห็น

a lifelike bronze statue รูปปั้นบรอนซ์ ที่ดูเหมือนมีชีวิต

( lifelike ไล๊ฟ ไล้ค์ แปลว่า ดูเหมือนมีชีวิต)

of a rat. ของหนูตัวหนึ่ง
It has no มันไม่มี

 price tag, ป้ายติดราคา

 but แต่ว่า

is so striking มันโดนใจมาก

( striking  สไตร๊ค์กิ้งแปลว่าฟาด ทุบตี หรือเห็นแล้วหลงรัก . )

 he decides เขาตัดสินใจ

he must have it. ว่าเขาต้องเอามันมาครอบครองให้ได้
He takes เขาเอา

the statue รูปปั้นอันนั้น

to the owner ไปหาเจ้าของร้าน

and asks, แล้วก็ถามว่า

“How much for ราคาเท่าใหร่สำหรับ

 the bronze rat?” รูปปั้นบรอนซ์หนูตัวนี้
“It’s $12 ราคา สิบสองเหรียญ

for the rat สำหรับรูปปั้นหนูตัวนี้

and an extra $100 แล้วก็อีกร้อยเหรียญพิเศษสำหรับ

 gives the man เอาเงินให้ชายคนนั้น

and says, แล้วก็บอกว่า

“I’ll just take the rat, ผมเอาแค่หนูตัวนี้

you can keep the story.” คุณเก็บเรื่องราวของมันไว้เถอะ
As he walks ขณะที่เขาเดิน

down the street ไปตามถนน

carrying ในมือก็อุ้ม

his bronze rat, รูปปั้นหนูที่เป็นบรอนซ์ของเขา

he notices เขาสังเกตุเห็น

a few real rats มีหนูจริงๆสองสามตัว

(grown โกรน มาจาก grow โกร ที่แปลว่าเจริญเติบโต ใช้กับต้นไม่ใช้กับคน ใช้กับจำนวนได้ทั้งนั้น grown เป็น past tense เรื่องนี้เป็นเรื่องเล่า ที่ผ่านมาแล้ว)

He starts to jog เขาเริ่มวิ่งเหยาะๆ

(Burley Griffin เป็นชื่อของคนอเมริกัน ที่ออกแบบสร้างเมืองแคนเบอรร่า ทะเลสาปอันนี้เค้าก็ออกแบบให้ขุด)

looking around เหลียวมองไปรอบๆ

to see the rats ก็เห็นหนู

now ที่ตอนนี้

number in the thousands มีจำนวนเป็นพันแล้ว
and และก็

are กำลัง

racing after him. วิ่งตามเค้ามา
Scared, อ่านว่า สะแก แปลว่า สุดจะผวา

he runs to เขาวิ่งไปที่

 the edge of ริมตลิ่งของ

and throws แล้วก็โยน

the bemused owner เจ้าของร้านที่กำลังแปลกใจ

 greets him with,พูดจาต้อนรับว่า

 “Aha! ฮะฮ้า

You’ve come back คุณกลับมา

 for the story?” เพื่อจะมาฟังเรื่องราวของมันใช้มั๊ย
“Nah, mate,” ไม่ใช่หรอกเพื่อน

 says the man. ชายคนนั้นตอบ

“I came back ผมกลับ

to see มาดู

if you have เผื่อว่าคุณจะมี

a bronze politician.” รูปปั้นบรอนซ์ ที่เป็นนักการเมือง
