คาวบอยขี้คุย

 

เรื่องนี้ ค่อนข้างงงๆนิดหน่อย อ่านดูว่าเข้าใจขนาดใหน ถ้ายิ้มนิดๆ แสดงว่าเข้าใจ ถ้ายังไม่เข้าใจ ไปอ่านที่แปลมา           

 

   Three cowboys sit around a campfire, bragging about their adventures.
            The first says, “I gotta
be the meanest, toughest
cowboy there is. Just the other day, a bull got loose in the corral and gored six men. I
wrestled that sumbitch to the ground with my bare hands.”
The second cowboy
laughs, “That’s nothing. I come across a rattler on the trail yesterdays grabbed it around the neck and bit its head off. I drank that venom down in one gulp, and I’m still here today!”
The third cowboy remains silent, slowly stirring the
embers with his giggle stick.

            The first says, คนแรกพูดว่า

“I gotta be the meanest, กูนี่ต้อง แสบที่สุด

 toughest cowboy เป็นคาวบอยที่ทรหดที่สุด

there is. เท่าที่เคยมีมา

Just the other day, เมื่อไม่นานมานี้เอง

 a bull got loose กระทิงตัวนึงอาละวาด

in the corral ในคอก

and gored six men. ขวิดคนไปหกคน

I wrestled กูปลํ้ากด

that sumbitch มัน ( คำนี้เท่ากับ son of a bitch )

to the ground ลงไปที่พื้น

with my bare hands.”  ด้วยมือเปล่า

 

 

The second cowboy laughs,   คาวบอยคนที่สองหัวเราะ
“That’s nothing. นั่นมันไม่เท่าใหร่

I come across a rattler กูไปเจอ งูหางกระดิ่ง

on the trail บนทางเกวียน

yesterdays เมื่อวานนี้

 grabbed it  จับมัน

around the neck ที่คอ

and bit its head off. แล้วก็กัดหัวมันขาดไปเลย

 I drank that venom down กูดื่มเลือดพิษงูไป

 in one gulp, อึกใหญ่

and I’m still here today!” เห็นมั๊ย กูยังอยู่ได้ถึงวันนี้

 

The third cowboy คาวบอยคนที่สาม

remains silent, ไม่พุดไม่จา

slowly stirring ค่อยๆบรรจงเขี่ย

the embers  กองไฟไปมา ( embers ก็ถ่านแดงๆกองไฟนั่นเอง
with his giggle stick. ด้วยไอ้จู๋ที่แข็งโป๊กของตัว

( giggle stick เป็นสแลงแปลว่า ไอ้จู่ที่แข็งตัวเหมือนท่อนไม้)
