ภาษาอังกฤษ ถ้าเราไปพึ่ง Dictionary อย่างเดียวไม่ได้ ต้องหัดใช้จินตณาการณ์ด้วย

Don’t give up

       Trying to cheer my mate up about his debt problems,

       I said, “Look, I knew a bloke like you: $2Ok in debt, he parked up at the edge of a cliff and threatened to drive off.

      Two months later, he was back on his feet and doing well.”

     “What made him change his mind?” he asked.           

 “All his passengers had a whip around and he got the money.”

 

 

Don’t give up แปลว่าอย่าสิ้นหวัง

       Trying to cheer  ผมพยายามให้กำลังใจ

 my mate up เพื่อนผมไม่ให้ท้อแท้

 about his debt problems, เรื่องหนี้สินของมันที่กำลังเป็นปัญหา

       I said, “Look, ผมบอกว่า ดูตัวอย่างนี้ได้เลย

I knew a bloke like you: กูรู้จักคนๆหนึ่ง

 $2Ok in debt, ที่เป็นหนี้อยู่สองหมื่นเหรียญ

he parked up มันเอารถไปจอด

at the edge of a cliff    ที่หน้าผา

and threatened to drive off. แล้วก็ขู่ว่าจะขับรถพุ่งตกลงไป

      Two months later, สองเดือนต่อมา

 he was back มันก็กลับมา

on his feet ผงาด ( ยืนบนขาตัวเอง ในที่นี้เท่ากับผงาด หรือฟื้นตัวขึ้นมา)

and doing well.”  แล้วก็ไปได้สวยทีเดียว

     “What  made him อะไร ที่ทําให้มัน

change his mind?” เปลี่ยนใจ ( ไม่ฆ่าตัวตาย)

he asked.  เพื่อนถาม         

 “All his passengers  ผู้โดยสารในรถมันทุกคน

 had a whip around โดนมันเก็บเงินไปทั่วหมดทุกคน

( whip around ในที่นี้คือแสลง หมายถึงโดนเก็บเงินหรือขอบริจาค  )

and he แล้วมันก็

got the money.” ได้เงินไป
