THE teacher asked the kids to discuss what their dads did for a living.
“My dad’s a lawyer,” Mary boasted. “He puts the bad guys in the clink.”

“My father’s a doctor,” Conan grinned. “He makes all the sick people better.”
All the kids in the class had their turn except lil’ Johnny.
The teacher asked, “Johnny, what does your Dad do?”
“He’s dead, Miss,” he swore.
“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that,” the teacher cringed. “What did he do before he died?”
“He turned blue and shit on the carpet.”

(turn เทิร์น แปลได้หลายอย่าง แต่ที่พจนานุกรมไทยไม่เคยแปลคือ your turn ทีเธอ my turn ทีฉัน เหมือนเด็กเล่นกระโดดเชือก ผลัดกัน ..ดังนั้น ดิ๊กไทย มีคุณอนันต์ และก็มีโทษมหันต์เหมือนกัน 
         ถ้าเราเอาไปให้ กูเกิ๊ล ทานเสลด แปล จะได้ออกมาว่า...  ถึงคราวแล้ว... ที่ไม่ได้ใจความที่แท้จริง ทําให้สับสน เพราะกูเกิ๊ลทานเสลดคือ อาจารย์ มหาวิทยาลัยจุฬาลงกรณ์ ที่ไม่สามารถเรียนภาษาอังกฤษรู้เรื่องได้เลย เพราะโครงสร้างทางสังคมไม่เหมือนฝรั่ง)

( เด็กฝรั่งจะเรียกครูว่า Miss ทุกคน ) 
 he swore. เขาพูดออกมาแบบ เครียดๆ
(swore สะวอร์ เป็นพ๊าสเท๊นส์ มาจาก swear สแวร์ แปลว่า พูดคําหยาบ หรือสบถ แต่ในเรื่องนี้ หมายถึงพูดออกมาด้วยอารมณ์เครียด หรือกัดฟันพูดนั่นเอง)
“Oh, โอ้
I’m sorry ฉันเสียใจ
to hear that,” ที่ได้ยินเรื่องนี้
the teacher cringed. คุณครูพูดแบบเอาใจ แบบไม่อยากได้ยินเรื่องแบบนี้
(cringed คริ๊งจ์ เป็นกิริยาที่ละเอีอดอ่อน
