During a mid-life crisis, Phil buys
a brand-new Corvette. Driving out
of the dealership, he gives it
some gas and screams down the
highway, feeling the wind blowing
through his hair and feeling good
for the first time in ages.
The speedo climbs from 120km/h to 150km/h and the needle hits l6OknVh before Phil notices the blue lights flashing in his mirrors,
Feeling reckless, he has a sudden urge to floor the accelerator and make a run for it before reality sets in.
Ah. shit! What am I doing’?" Phil sighs. easing off on the pedal and slowly pulling over. - I really am too old for this."
The cop gets out of his car, ready to slam Phil with a massive fine. But he takes one look at the bloke’s slumped shoulders and depressed expression and can’t help but be sympathetic.
The officer looks at his watch.
"Sir." he says sternly, today is Friday and my shift ends in 10 minutes. If you can give me a brIlliant reason for your speeding that I’ve never heard before, Ill et you off."
Phil thinks for a moment, then begins, Three years ago, my wife ran off with a police officer."
"And your point is? " police asked.
"I thought you were bringing her beck." Phil escapes with a warning.
